LED street light or solar street light?

Choose an LED street light where there is a reliable power line. Where cabling is costly or there is no supply, a solar street light (from Rs 999) has no wiring and no electricity bill. Compare both in our DOB vs solar street light guide, and see LED street lights for housing societies for bulk projects.

Buying guide: LED street lights

LED street lights light roads, housing societies, campuses, farms and project sites with low running costs. They suit places that need dependable light every night, and solar versions work where laying cable is difficult or expensive.

Before you buy, check the wattage and lumens for the area, the mounting height, the beam spread, and the IP rating for outdoor weather. For solar models, ask about panel size, battery capacity and the hours of light you can expect. Plan the pole or bracket so the lamp and panel are secure and the panel gets direct sun.
